About Me
I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and bring over a decade of experience to my work with teens and adults. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, I offer a deeply informed, compassionate, and grounded approach to mental health.
I spent nine years working in a residential treatment program for adolescents, supporting youth through complex emotional and behavioral challenges. Over the past four years, I have worked in private practice, offering individual counselling to both teens and adults navigating trauma, stress, identity, and change.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I trained and worked as an EMT and Firefighter. My background in emergency services gives me an unique insight into the demands and culture of first responders—a population I feel deeply connected to and privileged to support.
Therapeutic Philosophy
My approach is guided by the belief in truth over comfort. I understand that meaningful self-discovery requires courage, honesty, and the willingness to confront the blind spots that keep us stuck. My goal is not to keep you in therapy indefinitely, but to empower you with the tools, insight, and resilience to walk your own path with confidence.
I balance this depth-oriented work with warmth, practicality, and even humor—recognizing that healing can and should include levity. My presence has been described as grounding, honest, and supportive.
Therapeutic Approach
I use an eclectic and integrative approach, drawing on the best of evidence-based practice to tailor therapy to each individual. My modalities include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
- Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
- The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT)
- Attachment-Based Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Approaches
- Existential Therapy
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy – Level 1 & 2 Trained
This flexible, client-centered model allows me to meet you where you are—whether you’re seeking tools for change, space for reflection, or deeper insight into your inner world. Together, we will work to build insight, regulate emotions, process trauma, and move toward the life you want to live—with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.
Personal Side
Outside of the therapy room, I am a lifelong learner and believe in walking the same path of growth I invite you into. I enjoy stand-up comedy, believe in the power of humor as a coping tool, and have a love for sports, reading, cooking, and music. I am currently learning how to play piano and guitar – thankfully my neighbors have a lot of patience.
About Us
Areas of Expertise
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma counselling is a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences that have significantly impacted their emotional well-being. It provides a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore the effects of trauma, such as anxiety, flashbacks, emotional numbness, or difficulty trusting others. Trauma counselling often incorporates evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, or somatic techniques to help individuals regain a sense of control, safety, and resilience. The goal is not only to reduce symptoms but also to empower clients to rebuild their lives with greater emotional strength and stability.
Depression and Anxiety
Counselling for depression is a therapeutic process aimed at helping individuals understand, manage, and overcome the emotional and psychological challenges associated with depression. It provides a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can explore the underlying causes of their low mood, feelings of hopelessness, and lack of motivation. Therapy involves learning how to challenge negative thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and build coping strategies. The counselling process also encourages self-awareness, self-compassion, and gradual behavior change, helping clients regain a sense of purpose, connection, and overall well-being.
Counselling for anxiety focuses on helping individuals understand and manage the persistent worry, fear, or nervousness that interferes with their daily lives. It offers a safe and supportive environment to explore the root causes of anxiety, such as past experiences, negative thought patterns, or stressful life events. We can help clients identify triggers, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and develop healthier coping strategies. Through this process, individuals can learn to reduce their symptoms, regain a sense of control, and build confidence in facing everyday challenges with greater calm and resilience.
Men’s Issues and Relationship Issues
Counselling for men’s issues addresses the unique emotional, psychological, and social challenges that men may face in their personal and professional lives. This form of counselling provides a supportive and confidential space where men can explore concerns such as stress, anger, relationship difficulties, identity, fatherhood, self-esteem, or the pressure to meet traditional gender expectations. It also helps men process emotions they may have been conditioned to suppress, such as vulnerability or sadness. The goal is to empower men to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and enhance overall mental and emotional well-being.
Counselling for relational challenges focuses on helping individuals or couples navigate difficulties in their personal, romantic, family, or social relationships. It provides a safe and neutral space to explore patterns of communication, unresolved conflicts, emotional disconnection, trust issues, or unmet needs that may be causing tension or dissatisfaction. Through therapeutic support, clients can gain greater insight into their own behaviors and emotional responses, while also learning effective communication and conflict-resolution skills. The counselling process encourages empathy, mutual understanding, and the rebuilding of healthy relational dynamics, ultimately fostering stronger, more satisfying, and resilient connections with others.
Stress Management
Counselling for stress management helps individuals identify, understand, and effectively cope with the sources of stress in their lives. Whether stress is related to work, relationships, health concerns, or major life changes, therapy provides a supportive environment to explore its impact on mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Counsellors work with clients to develop personalized strategies such as time management, relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring, and healthy lifestyle habits to reduce stress and build resilience. Through this process, individuals learn to respond to stress more adaptively, regain a sense of balance and control, and improve their overall quality of life.
Life Transitions
Counselling for life transitions supports individuals as they navigate significant changes or milestones that can bring about uncertainty, stress, or emotional upheaval. These transitions may include events such as career changes, retirement, relocation, marriage, divorce, parenthood, or the loss of a loved one. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to process the emotional impact of these changes, explore identity shifts, and develop strategies for adapting to new circumstances. Counsellors help clients build resilience, clarify goals, and find meaning during periods of transition, empowering them to move forward with confidence, stability, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Personal Development
Counselling for personal development focuses on helping individuals gain greater self-awareness, clarify their values and goals, and unlock their potential for growth and fulfillment. It provides a supportive and reflective space to explore one’s strengths, beliefs, habits, and areas for improvement. Whether someone is seeking to enhance self-confidence, improve decision-making, develop healthier relationships, or cultivate a more meaningful life, counselling offers guidance and tools tailored to their unique journey. Through this process, individuals can overcome internal barriers, build on their strengths, and make intentional changes that lead to a more empowered, authentic, and purpose-driven life.
ADHD
Counselling for ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) provides support and practical strategies to help individuals manage the challenges associated with inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. Therapy offers a structured and understanding environment where clients can explore how ADHD affects various areas of their lives, including work, school, relationships, and self-esteem. Counsellors may use cognitive-behavioral techniques, psychoeducation, and skills training to help clients improve focus, organization, time management, and emotional regulation. The goal is to empower individuals with ADHD to better understand their unique brain functioning, build on their strengths, and develop effective coping strategies that enhance daily functioning and overall well-being.
Grief and Loss
Counselling for grief and loss offers compassionate support to individuals coping with the emotional pain of losing a loved one or experiencing other significant losses, such as the end of a relationship, job, or way of life. It provides a safe space to express and process complex emotions.
